A fruity, spicy hit to your taste buds
Food Loves Beer Editors
Three times a year, the skilled brewers at Brooklyn Brewery create a magical, one-of-a-kind, limited-edition beer. Found only in select bars and restaurants, each release in the Brewmaster’s Reserve series is eagerly anticipated by fans. Weizenhammer, the latest such offering, is a strong wheat bock designed to bridge the gap between lighter summer beers and the heavier ales of winter. The pronounced flavors of tropical fruits, banana, and allspice are balanced by the dry, spicy character of wheat malt, creating a beer that is complex and refreshing. Weighing in with fifty percent more alcohol by volume than ordinary weisse beers, Weizenhammer is a great choice to toast the arrival of the cool, crisp days of autumn. Serve in a weisse glass or snifter at 45-50 F.
Suggested food pairings: The rich tropical flavors of Weizenhammer are a nice complement to salty cheeses, baked cod, and carrot cake. We took home a growler to enjoy and some found its way into our Brooklyn Cream Pie.
