We sipped, pondered and enjoyed this elegant saison
At little more than three and a half years old, Adelbert’s brews with a focus and maturity rarely found among breweries so young. Staying true to their mission of brewing only Belgian-style ales, Adelbert’s has developed an impressive range of beers that represent the monastic tradition as well as any.
Perfect for the verdant days of spring, Philosophizer pours a cheery apricot hue and develops the craggy white head so typical of saisons as it rises in the glass. The aroma is a marriage of fruity hops, coriander, and funky yeast notes with a tart vinous undertone. Curacao orange and freshly cracked coriander are first on the palate, followed by Belgian yeast esters, freshly cut hay, white pepper, and the suggestion of lemongrass. Citrusy and refreshing throughout, the flavors meld with subtle hop bitterness in the finish, making Adelbert’s Philosophizer a classic saison from start to finish.
Serve in a tulip glass at 45-55 F.
Suggested Food Pairings: Adelbert’s Philosophizer pairs well with both spicy and delicate dishes. We enjoy it with Port Salut, pad thai, and Saison Poached Salmon.
